Case Report - Noble With CCL Injury 1Patient: Noble is a 3-year-old, 53-pound American bulldog mix

Diagnosis: Right hind CCL tear

Type Of Device: Stifle brace

Case Report: Noble is a young active dog. He and his Mom regularly go on five-to-10-mile hikes multiple times a week. During one of these outings, Noble was playing with another dog and started limping on his rear right leg. Noble rested for a week, but his weight bearing did not improve. They visited their veterinarian who diagnosed him with a cranial cruciate ligament rupture.

With guidance from their veterinarian, it was decided Noble would pursue a custom stifle brace for treatment. Noble visited our Morgantown, PA facility for the casting and fitting of his brace. The brace utilizes a strap and pad placed at the top of the tibia to stop the tibial thrust. The brace is jointed to allow range of motion but prevent hyperextension of the joint. Based on our experience, we recommend he wear the brace for a total of nine months. Afterwards, he can continue to use it as needed for additional support.

Noble has been wearing his brace for five months now. He and his Mom have returned to their active lifestyle. His Mom said, “The brace has not only changed our life, it has saved it too! Walking, hiking, running and simply just moving is part of our everyday life. Without the brace, we would not be able to enjoy our life as we know it. Thank you, My Pet’s Brace, for changing and saving our life!”
