Creating a Device
Question: Does My Pet's Brace require a veterinarian's referral or prescription for custom-made orthotic and prosthetic devices?
Response: Yes. We believe that the best care for your pet starts with a veterinarian's examination and diagnosis and the referral assures a veterinary professional's involvement in the process.
Question: What is the first step towards getting a leg brace, prosthesis or other orthopedic device for my pet?
Response: The simplest way to get started is for you or your veterinarian to call us at (610) 286-0018 or send us the information requested in the Ask A Question section under the Contact Us tab. If your veterinarian is familiar with our services, an order can be placed directly from the Place an Order section of our website.
Question: What is the process for getting an orthotic or prosthetic device made for my pet?
Response: The four steps in the simple process of creating a custom device for your pet are: 1) taking a cast of the leg or other body part, 2) fabricating or building the device, 3) fitting the device on the animal and, 4) modifications and adjustments, if necessary. (Steps 3 and 4 are usually accomplished at the same time.) For more information click on this link to Creating a Device in the Pet Families section of our website.
Question: How long will a custom brace or prosthesis last?
Response: The plastic superstructure (body) and hinges should last at least two to three years (and often much longer) under typical wear and use conditions. Straps, buckles and tread can start to wear after six months and should be examined frequently. We recommend that clients send the brace back to us for inspection and refurbishment, as needed, typically every nine to twelve months depending on amount of use and the pet's activity level.
Question: Do you have a warranty for your products?
Response: Yes, we have one of the best warranties in the industry. Our warranty covers defects due to workmanship or materials and provides free repair or replacement of straps, liners and similar items for 90 days and superstructure and hinges for one year. Our warranty also provides free adjustments or modifications for 90 days from date of purchase. To see the complete warranty , click on this link.
Question: What is your billing policy?
Response: Because our devices are custom-made, they are unique to each patient and cannot be reused. Consequently, we request full payment before fabrication is started for our custom products.
Question: Who will bill me for my pet's orthotic or prosthetic device?
Response: Depending on the circumstances, either your veterinarian or My Pet's Brace will bill you for your pet's orthotic or prosthetic device.
Question: What is your shipping policy?
Response: We offer free shipping up to $21 on orders for new leg braces, prosthetics and other orthopedic devices as well as warranty work. Please click on this link for our complete shipping policy located in the Policies section of our website.
